202603 Close Up

PHOTOGRAPHY: March 2026; Personal challenge for Close Up or Macro photography.

Taking photos being very close to the subject can give some surprising and artistic results, revealing details that would otherwise be missed and often giving a soft, warm and fuzzy feel to the image..  Technically, Macro photography is when the image on the camera sensor is larger than the actual object being photographed.  But, we don’t want to get too technical!

Our aim here was to get as close and as detailed as with the cameras we all have will allow – and every camera from mobiles to high end DSLRs can do Close Up.  And, to experiment with subjects, light and location to work out the best results.  A big issue when getting close up, is to get enough of the subject in focus.  However, by carefully setting distance and aperture this can get the most important areas in focus and the surrounding and background blurry and colourful.

Please view our range of results below with a record 13 members contributing, well done.

Best wishes,  Alan
