Visit to the old village of Horndon-on-the-Hill

On the 20th July, seven members of the Photography Group visited the pretty village of Horndon on the Hill. The village is noted for having 17 listed buildings in its Conservation Area.
The group started by visiting St. Peter’s and Paul's Church, which kindly opened up for us to visit.
The church was built in the 13th Century with alterations added in the 14th and 15th Centuries. It is a Grade 1 listed building.
After some time taking photographs, the church warden offered us tea, coffee and biscuits which was much appreciated.
We next made our way to the High Street where the other buildings are situated. (One street with buildings on either side). Most notable were the Woolmarket - 14th Century, Bell Inn late 14th Century with 16th Century alterations and High House an early 18th Century red brick and grey slate roof building.
The weather was pleasantly warm and after a leisurely stroll through the village, taking photos of the other listed buildings, we headed back to Benfleet.
