202502 Soft Pastels and Watercolours

ART 4 BEGINNERS: February 2025 Challenge

In the last session we went over the importance of observing what you are drawing and how helpful a grid is to start a picture.  To make it a bit more interesting the horses below were drawn using a grid but they were drawn upside down.

The other drawings were completed at home, also using a grid and finished off with watercolour paints.  In particular the "old" car I think came out very well as it was not an easy drawing for our beginners to do.

We also did the soft pastels in this session.  This was not enjoyed so much by the first timers mainly because of the mess your fingers get in as you have to blend the colours with your fingers.  You can use a q-bud or sponge to blend but your fingers really work best.

Best wishes, Sue
