202512 Shapes, Shadows and Shading

DRAWING AND PAINTING: December 2025; Shapes, Shadows and Shading

This month’s theme was Shapes and Shadows and the ladies have produced good interpretations. Estelle’s continuous line drawing was of her ‘hagstones’, also catching the light coming through the window.  A hagstone is a natural stone with a hole through it believed in folklore to possess magical, protective powers.

I used cross-hatch shading on my building which was a new method for me.  Teresa captured the shadows whilst watching her grandson play football.  Susan is also proficient in the art of  topiary and drew the lovely bushes she created at home.

Chris has been busy drawing her shapes and shading and given us some good ideas.  You will see that she has used a grid which is common to use when you want to get accurate, even and precise drawings.

Wishing you all a lovely Christmas and we will see you next year!

Best wishes, Sue
